(got some snark from me initially, but I realized how useful a chic portable light would be for reading in dark places.  I'd look dumb for carrying a flashlight, but this, I could pull off...)

and the best for last:

it's funny how things come true

in the most unexpected ways you don't even imagine.

When I was preparing to leave home for Princeton after spending the holidays there, I was scanning around my room looking for things to take back with me. Letters from friends, old diaries, countless scrapbooks that I started but never managed to finish - these I threw aside, knowing that bringing them with me would be more hassle than anything. But then I found Akane's letter, my little miniature oboe figurine, and... a list of things that I wanted to do before I died.

It's funny because I remember how it happend - I'd emerged from a night of Youbing and internet-surfing in my hovel, and my mom approached me with an inspirational article about Schwarzen-newly-elected-Governator's success (god, publishing an article like this is so Korean, isn't it?  Way to go, Chosun Ilbo).  Apparently, the story he sold the press a story about writing down and setting goals for himself every year (actually, wait, never mind - it's true), and my mom suggested that I try it out.  I wrote things on a whim without thinking about plausibility, possibility, or anything really.  Then again, my then-wee, little high school brain could barely comprehend life after graduation and college - if I had started thinking reasonably, this list would have more closely resembled a homework-assignment to-do list.

Instead, it turned out like this:

Amazingly, there're a few items on there that I've crossed out unknowingly and/or unintentionally.  Orchestra and composing are down by default of my student activities and classes that I've taken.  I had also been suggesting promoting PURE (our Rock ensemble) through music videos that *cough*of course I'd be directing*cough*.  As for the others... who knows?  Maybe I'll unwittingly come across an opportunity to act, or suddenly find myself having to come up with strange costume design.

... but I turned to the back side and found some lol-sy resolutions that made me realize that the ones above were revisions of these, or vice-versa.  So I guess these resolutions weren't as inspired and raw as I'd thought.

Song of the day

[audio http://www.mediafire.com/file/niizymimymm/09 Cloud Avenue.mp3]

"Cloud Avenue" by Dear Cloud, from their first album, "Dear Cloud".

(learning how to insert audio files into wordpress took me forever, omg, it's such an amazing function)

AM SICK AND TIRED OF TRYING TO GET THIS TO WORK. APPARENTLY I HAVE TO LOGIN EVERY TIME I WANT THIS TO PLAY.

Nostalgic for Fukuoka

Came across some of my photos from Fukuoka today.  Thoughts:

1) I'm awesome.
2) You can't find a more cultured place.
3) I miss it so much...
